Lingotto & Mirafiori
The Lingotto neighbourhood is located in the south-eastern part of the city. It used to be part of District 9 together with Nizza Millefonti and Borgo Filadelfia, but in 2016 it was unified with San Salvario, Borgo Po, and Cavoretto in District 8 of Turin.
The name of the district derives from the noble Lingotto family of Moncalieri who named a farmhouse after it, after which the name was extended to the whole area. In the past it was a rural estate that later became a working-class neighbourhood when Fiat set up its automobile production plant in 1915.
In 2006, a further renovation of the district took place for the Winter Olympics, the Olympic village was created, the red Olympic arch towering into the sky, a footbridge and new buildings. The area is subject to continuous modernisation and is considered an important and characteristic part of the city despite being somewhat distant from the centre, but still perfectly connected.
The Mirafiori district, adjacent to the Lingotto, has been part of Turin's District 2 since 2016 and is also associated with the Fiat plants that made it a major production hub.
Over time, spaces for aggregation and sports have also been created, as well as improved services and transport. The Colonnetti Park area was redeveloped, which also boasts a golf course and is now a favourite place for local residents to spend time outdoors.

What to see and do
Lingotto is a bit like a village within the city, in a way it has a life of its own that recalls its industrial and working-class past.
Walking through the neighbourhood you still come across a former duty guard area, in via Torrazza Piemonte you can see a ciabòt, an example of the rural houses that were built for workers. In via Felizzano there are three Liberty-style cottages built by Mollino, the same architect who designed Le Molinette, the Turin hospital not far away.
One of the district's attractions is the Lingotto di Torino, a former Fiat factory that has been transformed by Renzo Piano into a multifunctional centre since the 1980s. In the complex of buildings are the Auditorium, the Conference Centre, the hotel, the multiplex cinema, the Garden of Wonders (a lush vertical garden housing various species and located in one of the inner courtyards). Also, the shopping mall, with shops, restaurants, concert halls and even a theatre, the centre for training and research in automotive engineering of the Politecnico di Torino, while the building to the south has become an exhibition space.
Other constructions worth noting are 'La Bolla', a suspended and fully glazed meeting room, and 'Lo Scrigno', a metal box resting on the roof of the building housing the artworks of the Pinacoteca Agnelli.
Outside the complex, you can visit the Parco d’Arte Vivente (Living Art Park), an experimental contemporary art centre with both permanent and temporary installations that also hosts artistic and cultural events.
In the southern area of the district is the Hiroshima Mon Amour, a cultural centre where various music, theatre and cultural events and shows are organised.
In the Santa Rita area is the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, home of Torino FC, which also houses a museum and guided tours.
In the Mirafiori district there is the Heritage Hub, home to work, services and training, but above all where the company's collection of vintage cars is located, offering a journey through the history of heritage in the premises of the former Officina di via Plava. Also in the neighbourhood is the Bela Rosin, a mausoleum inspired by the Roman Pantheon.
Where to eat and drink
The Turin Lingotto building complex is home to several restaurants and places for an aperitivo.
We recommend the Torpedo restaurant, which serves Italian cuisine as well as fusion alternatives and is located right in the centre of the building near the tropical garden. The atmosphere is intimate and cosy, and the cocktails are excellent for aperitifs.
La Pista, on the other hand, is an elegant and quiet restaurant that combines taste and creativity in its dishes. Old Wild West, Winer Haus, and Roadhouse Restaurant, for burgers, fries, grilled meat and a wide selection of beers, including craft beers.
Around the Lingotto we find proposals for different tastes and flavours: Monegato Primi Secondi a Nessuno, excellent food and an interesting selection of wines, Ristorante La Mina, Piedmontese dishes and specialities with mushrooms in a venue with retro elegance. Also, Taverna Greca Olimpia, obviously for specialities of Greek cuisine with generous portions, Just Baked Popular Potatoes, specialising in potatoes but not only, Trattoria PoP Lingotto, excellent food, genuine preparations, old local trattoria atmosphere.
Heading towards Mirafiori: Trattoria Le Tre Nuvole, simple but excellent food and venue, I Soliti Amici Uno, both a restaurant and pizzeria, El Pollo Loco, a fast-food chain offering typical Mexican dishes and grilled chicken, Milord and Preludio, two other restaurants-pizzerias for lunches and dinners.
There is no shortage of international cuisine: Chinese restaurants, such as Hua Dou Cheng, Japanese sushi, such as Sumo and Ichi, Brazilian-style grilled meat at Picanha, various Kebab places.
Among the pizzerias in Lingotto and Mirafiori: Pizzerie Cos' e Pazz, La Vela Ristorante Pizzeria, La Cazzimma, Pizza Snoopy, Pizzerie La Lepre, Pizzario, AVgusto for pizza al tegamino. You can also find Stellantis&You Torino Mirafiori Bistrot by Gerla if you are looking for a pizzeria, restaurant, or café at the Motor Village.
For a nice aperitif at Torino Lingotto and the surrounding area: Casa 500 Lounge Bar, Eataly (which is also a restaurant and shop), Matricola, in addition to aperitifs also excellent breakfasts, Bar Le Lido, for sweet and savoury snacks from breakfast to aperitifs, Caffetteria Gianduia, which also offers an ice-cream parlour service. If you love beer and a pub atmosphere: Old Monk Irish Pub, Dorian Gray Pub, Birreria Don Giovanni to name a few.
Where to go shopping
The Lingotto Shopping Centre, formerly known as 8 Gallery, is the place to go for all kinds of shopping in the area and offers endless possibilities.
There are clothing, footwear, household goods, electronics, telephones, jewellery and bijoux shops. To name a few brands present: Alcott, Aw Lab, Bata, Calliope, Celio, Clayton, Coin, Conbipel, Desigual, Geox, JD Sports, Nuna Lie, Okaidi, OVS, Primadonna, Pandora, Stroili Oro, Mediaworld, Kasanova.
Of course, there is also a well-stocked supermarket and various services and activities to do in your free time.
Inside the centre there is also the UCI Cinemas multiplex cinema, which offers a rich programme during the week and at weekends.
It is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., only on Sundays it closes at 8 p.m. Services also include a bank, travel agency, pharmacy and parapharmacy. You can easily get there by car - there is also a large car park with 4000 spaces - or by public transport.
Leaving the shopping centre, there are several outlets in the area: Promoclub Torino Mirafiori, a multi-category outlet with men's and women's clothing, jewellery, household goods and foodstuffs, with discounts of up to 80%. Hope Outlet, Twenty-Nine Outlet and Outlet Santarita, again for various types of clothing and excellent value for money. The Motor Village Torino Mirafiori, a Stellantis-owned dealership, with Fiat showrooms and rental services.
