Are you a food lover? Lyon will delight you

The most referenced international culinary critics have called Lyon the 'Gastronomy Capital of the World': the art of French cuisine was born here, thanks to the work of the famous 'Mères Lyonnaise', who have become a symbol of quality with excellent cuisine characterised by simplicity, fresh but fine products and refinement. In Lyon, you will find restaurants of all kinds, from the Bouchon (typical inn) to the 19 starred restaurants. Licking your lips in Lyon will not be difficult :)

The culinary proposals are countless, we have chosen three:

  • Salade à la Lyonnaise: salad with bacon, poached egg and lettuce with a lemon emulsion
  • Les Quenelles Lyonnaise: elongated dumplings made with both meat and fish
  • La tarte praline de Lyon: short pastry cake with a creamy filling of hazelnut and almond pralines

Paris: the magic of the City of Light

Parisian gastronomy is famous for its ability to develop imaginative combinations that can be tasted in the two places of taste par excellence: the 'bistrots' and the 'brasseries'. The former have a very simple and traditional popular cuisine and an informal and friendly service; the latter are restaurants where you can eat more refined dishes, taste quality wines and a wide choice of desserts.

Representative dishes?

  • Soupe gratinée à l'oignon: this is no ordinary onion soup, but much more. A dish of peasant    origin so tasty that it can be found in practically all classy restaurants and prepared by top chefs. Try its Parisian version au gratin.
  • Quiche Lorraine: brisée pastry with a filling of béchamel sauce, smoked ham and gruyère.

Montpellier: elegant and refined, a scaled-down Paris

This city in the South of France seems to evoke, on a smaller scale, the beauty of Paris. It is a very special city because it mixes the monumentality of European cities with the charm of Mediterranean cities.

With three hundred days of sunshine a year, it is considered the sunniest and greenest city in France, suitable for young people attracted by the presence of three historic universities and good food.

Sun, young people and good food

In Montpellier, gastronomy also reigns supreme and does its utmost to be discovered and savoured.

In this city kissed by the sun and bathed by the sea, raw materials are king: oysters, crustaceans and molluscs will always be the great protagonists on the tables of this city, paired with the area's indigenous wine, Picpouc de pinet, a fresh, full-bodied white wine with herbaceous and citrus notes. Absolutely not to be missed!

Bordeaux: the city of wine

A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007 for its huge historic centre with more than 300 monuments, all united by an unparalleled architectural coherence, a superb collection of perfectly restored classical and neoclassical buildings.

Retrace the history of the nectar of the Gods

Bordeaux is best known for the activities that revolve around the world of wine and its vineyards. In addition, the presence of the exciting museum on the art of wine allows you to take a journey through space and time to retrace the rich and living history of the nectar of the Gods.

The range of Bordeaux wines is, in fact, very wide, but there is one gift that unites them all, balance, body and longevity that go well with local cuisine such as the traditional 'rib-eye steak Bordeaux style' cooked on vine shoots, sprinkled with wine and covered with shallots, a delicacy hard to forget or 'lamprey Bordeaux style', fish cooked with leeks, red wine and prosciutto and served with garlic croutons.

Toulouse: the Ville Rose

A city of undisputed charm made up of the medieval streets of the old town, with its beautiful courtyards and magnificent Renaissance mansions. It received the nickname 'Pink City' for the dominant colour of the bricks of the old buildings in the 'old town', which the French call 'pink at dawn, red at midday and mauve at dusk'.

The Gourmet City

Toulouse, like Lyon, is first and foremost a gourmet city; its markets and its 6 starred restaurants celebrate the pleasures of the table every day.

Toulouse sausages, foie gras and other Southwestern dishes will tickle the palate especially when paired with the region's indigenous wines such as brocol, duras and prunelart before finishing with a good Armagnac.

Toulouse is also a city that loves and knows how to party to the rhythm of a long series of events and festivals that take place throughout the year.

Lille: between French and Flemish influences

The beating heart of northern France and an important cultural, university (with no fewer than 9 poles) and commercial centre with a history that still lives on in its bustling centre. It lies just a few kilometres from the Belgian border, justifying French and Flemish influences in its cuisine, architecture and cycling cult.

Culinary art in Vieux Lille

The cuisine here is strongly influenced by Flemish influences with a strong prevalence of traditional, hearty and hearty dishes, mainly cooked in a pot. Among the most famous are Waterzoï, a very tasty river fish soup, and Hochenpot, a main course of oxtail, meat and vegetables.

To taste the city's other typical dishes, there's nothing better than attending the Festival of Flavours held every year in summer at Place Rihour, where you can find the best products of northern France, such as cheeses, cured meats and smoked fish.

All that remains is for us to wish you an unforgettable journey of great food and good wine, a combination that goes together perfectly! Bon voyage!
